Vodafone broadband: What's on offer?

Vodafone offer a mixture of low-cost and premium home broadband services, with coverage provided using either part-fibre and full fibre connections.

Broadband deals start at some of the cheapest prices in the market for both part-fibre and full fibre packages, while larger homes can choose download speeds up to 910Mbps.

All Vodafone broadband deals can be upgraded with both Pro II and Xtra add-ons.

Pro II packages offer the latest WiFi 6E router, a whole home WiFi guarantee with a WiFi 6E Super booster, and automatic 4G back-up using the Vodafone mobile network.

While the Xtra add-on offers an Apple TV 4K box with a 24-month subscription to Apple TV+, and unlimited anytime calls to UK landlines and UK mobiles.

Vodafone pay monthly mobile customers can also benefit from an additional £3 off the monthly price of Vodafone home broadband.

Availability of Vodafone broadband

Vodafone broadband is available across the UK, with access to part-fibre and full fibre broadband provided using the Openreach and CityFibre wholesale networks.

Full fibre broadband deals are so far available to over 15.1 million properties where Openreach FTTP or CityFibre has expanded to. This is set to continue to grow too, with Openreach aiming to cover 25 million premises by the end of 2026, and CityFibre having a target of 8 million by the end of 2025.

For those homes where full fibre has yet to reach, customers can still access Vodafone broadband through part-fibre connections that offer superfast speeds up to 67Mbps.

Vodafone broadband speeds

Vodafone offer a selection of download speed from 35Mbps on their entry-level part-fibre plan, to 910Mbps on their fastest Full Fibre 900 option.

Those living in areas where only Openreach part-fibre is available will be able to choose between 35Mbps and 67Mbps average download speeds. While those living in full fibre enabled areas will be able to choose between plans ranging from 73Mbps to 910Mbps.

Due to the way full fibre technology lays a fibre optic cable directly into a customer's home, property location and distance from cabinets or exchanges doesn't prevent customers choosing and receiving the fastest speeds available from a provider.

These advertised average speeds must be received by at least 50% of Vodafone home broadband customers during the peak hours of 8pm to 10pm when the network is busiest.

Customers living in CityFibre enabled full fibre areas will receive symmetrical upload speeds, which are as fast as the download speed, while those in Openreach enabled areas will have asymmetrical upload speeds which are slower as shown in the table above.

The slower upload speeds in Openreach FTTP areas mirror other resellers however, including BT, Plusnet, Sky, and TalkTalk. Virgin Media also only offer asymmetrical upload speeds.

While Vodafone isn't a signatory of Ofcom's code of practice on broadband speeds, they still offer a guaranteed minimum speed when customers sign up, and allows customers to exit their contract early if they don't receive this minimum and Vodafone can't resolve the issue within 30 days of being notified.

Vodafone Pro II

Vodafone Pro II is an add-on which turns any broadband deal into a premium service.

Pro II includes the following benefits:

  • Upgraded router to the Ultra Hub with WiFi 6E
  • Whole home WiFi guarantee with up to 3 WiFi 6E Super Boosters
  • Automatic 4G broadband back-up using a Vodafone mobile hotspot if the fixed line broadband ever goes down
  • Access to expert WiFi engineers to proactively monitor and fix WiFi issues

The Ultra Hub offers a good upgrade over the standard Intelligent WiFi Hub usually provided by Vodafone as this only offers support up to WiFi 5, although to benefit customer devices connecting to the Ultra Hub will also need to support WiFi 6 or 6E.

It's also worth checking Vodafone mobile coverage in your area, as the automatic 4G back-up device works only on Vodafone's network.

Vodafone Xtra

The Xtra add-on from Vodafone can also be added to any of Vodafone's broadband deals, and offers a bundled TV and calling package.

Xtra includes:

  • Apple TV 4K set-top box
  • Subscription to Apple TV+ for 24 months
  • Unlimited anytime calls to UK landlines and UK mobiles

The Apple TV 4K box offers access to free and paid on-demand content as well as bundling a subscription to Apple TV+. So, customers can free services such as BBC iPlayer and ITVX, as well as subscription-based services like Netflix, Amazon Prime and NOW TV.

All Vodafone broadband plans come with a home phone line with pay as you go calls, and customers can add either an Evening & Weekend or Anytime call plan to their package.

While Xtra costs £14 per month extra, it includes the Anytime call plan worth £8 per month, and the Apple TV+ subscription worth £8.99, so customers benefit from a saving of £2.99 per month and get a TV set-top box thrown in too.

However, it's important customers know they'll make use of both of these benefits otherwise they may be better off subscribing to the services separately.

New customer offers

Vodafone offer special deals for new and switching customers taking their broadband plans. However, to be eligible customers will need to either be completely new to Vodafone home broadband or have had broadband from another provider for at least 3 months.

New customer offers for Vodafone broadband generally include discounted prices for the initial minimum term period, which at 24 months can offer considerable savings for switching.

Those with new or existing Vodafone pay monthly mobile deals, whether that's a SIM only or handset contract, can also benefit from an additional £3 off per month when they add a home broadband deal with Vodafone Together.
