Your Co-op Broadband: What's on offer?

Your Co-op is a broadband provider operating as a member-owned co-operative. It is part of The Midcounties Co-operative, which has more than 700,000 members and operates across a range of consumer services in the UK.

Your Co-op positions its broadband packages as ethical and climate positive. The provider says it aims to reduce the carbon footprint associated with each broadband connection by funding carbon-reduction projects and planting one tree per customer each month, through a partnership with Ecologi.

Your Co-op broadband is delivered over the Openreach network, meaning customers can access either part fibre (FTTC) or full fibre (FTTP) connections depending on local availability. Full fibre packages offer download speeds of up to 900Mbps.

Customers can choose from the following broadband plans:

  • Your Superfast
  • Your Superfast Plus
  • Your Ultrafast 100
  • Your Ultrafast 200
  • Your Ultrafast 500
  • Your Ultrafast 900

All plans are available on either 12-month or 24-month contracts. Monthly pricing is the same across both options, although the shorter contract term typically includes a setup fee.

Your Co-op supplies a TP-Link WiFi 5 router as standard, with the option to upgrade to a WiFi 6 router and add WiFi boosters for improved coverage. Customers can also add a digital home phone line, with pay-as-you-go or inclusive call plans available.

Key features of Your Co-op broadband include:

  • Member-owned co-operative structure
  • Broadband packages marketed as climate positive, with carbon-reduction funding and tree planting
  • Nationwide availability through the Openreach network
  • Full fibre speeds of up to 900Mbps where available
  • No in-contract price rises
  • Optional digital home phone service

Availability of Your Co-op broadband

Your Co-op broadband is delivered exclusively over the Openreach network. This means customers can access full fibre broadband where Openreach FTTP is available, or superfast part fibre broadband in areas that have not yet been upgraded.

Openreach full fibre currently reaches more than 20 million premises across the UK, while part fibre broadband is available to around 98% of homes. Your Co-op broadband availability mirrors this underlying network coverage.

Openreach plans to extend full fibre coverage to around 25 million premises by the end of 2026. As the rollout continues, availability of ultrafast and gigabit broadband from Your Co-op is expected to increase.

Your Co-op broadband speeds

Your Co-op offers a range of superfast, ultrafast and gigabit broadband speeds, with availability depending on whether your property is served by part fibre or full fibre.

Customers in full fibre enabled areas can choose from the Ultrafast plans, while those yet to be reached by the rollout can access one of the Superfast options instead.

Average download speed Average upload speed
Your Superfast 38Mb 9.5Mb
Your Superfast Plus 63Mb 19Mb
Your Ultrafast 100 100Mb 20Mb
Your Ultrafast 200 200Mb 30Mb
Your Ultrafast 500 500Mb 70Mb
Your Ultrafast 900 900Mb 100Mb

Advertised average download speeds must be achieved by at least 50% of customers during peak hours between 8pm and 10pm. These figures are designed to give a realistic indication of the speeds customers can expect in everyday use.

Your Co-op broadband uses asymmetrical upload speeds, meaning uploads are slower than downloads. This is standard across Openreach-based providers, including BT, Sky, Plusnet, and Vodafone.

New customer offers

Customers new to Your Co-op broadband can access special offers when they switch and sign up online using the ‘Get deal’ buttons in the table above.

Offers vary over time but may include discounted monthly prices for an introductory period, or reduced pricing for the full length of the contract. We keep prices and availability regularly updated in the table above.

Customers who choose a 24-month contract will have the activation fee included at no extra cost, meaning there are no upfront fees to pay.

Key terms for Your Co-op broadband deals

Your Co-op broadband is available on either a 12-month or 24-month minimum term contract, selected at the point of sign-up.

The shorter 12-month contracts offer more flexibility but come with an upfront setup fee, while monthly prices remain the same across both contract lengths. Any applicable fees are shown clearly in the table above.

Your Co-op does not apply in-contract price rises, so the monthly price you sign up to will stay the same for the duration of the minimum term. Once the contract ends, prices increase by £3 per month unless the customer switches or re-contracts.

The broadband router is provided as part of the service, but remains the property of Your Co-op and may need to be returned if the service is cancelled.

Frequently Asked Questions

How ethical is Your Co-op broadband?

Your Co-op broadband is provided by The Midcounties Co-operative, a member-owned organisation that operates for the benefit of its members and customers rather than external shareholders.

As part of its environmental commitments, Your Co-op works in partnership with Ecologi to help offset the carbon impact of providing broadband services.

For every broadband customer, Your Co-op also funds the planting of one tree each month through Ecologi-supported projects.

What is climate positive broadband?

Climate positive broadband refers to broadband services where the estimated carbon emissions associated with providing the service are offset, with additional action taken beyond simple carbon neutrality.

Your Co-op states that it offsets around 10kg of carbon per customer each month through its partnership with Ecologi, which is intended to cover the carbon footprint of providing the broadband connection and go beyond neutral.

In addition, Your Co-op funds the planting of one tree per broadband customer each month as part of its wider environmental commitments.

Where is Your Co-op broadband available?

Your Co-op broadband is available to the majority of homes across the UK, using the Openreach network.

Part fibre broadband is available to around 98% of UK premises, while full fibre broadband is currently available to more than 20 million homes where Openreach has completed its FTTP rollout.

Openreach plans to expand its full fibre network to more than 25 million premises by the end of 2026, which would increase availability for Your Co-op broadband over time.

What router comes with Your Co-op broadband?

Your Co-op broadband customers are provided with a TP-Link VR1210V-V2 wireless router as standard, which supports WiFi 5 (802.11ac).

Customers can upgrade to the TP-Link VX230v router, which supports WiFi 6 (802.11ax), for a one-off setup fee of £25.

Alternatively, customers who take the WiFi Plus add-on for £7.50 per month receive the TP-Link VX230v WiFi 6 router at no additional upfront cost.

How can I switch to Your Co-op broadband?

Switching to Your Co-op broadband is usually straightforward using the UK-wide One Touch Switch process.

Customers moving from another broadband provider on the Openreach network only need to place an order with Your Co-op. The new provider will contact your existing provider on your behalf and manage the switch, including cancelling the old service, to minimise disruption.

Most broadband switches complete within 1 to 2 weeks, although timescales can vary depending on availability, whether an engineer visit is required, and whether the switch involves moving to a full fibre connection.

Customers switching from a different network, such as Virgin Media, may need to cancel their existing service themselves after placing an order with Your Co-op.
