Onestream are a retail broadband provider offering some of the UK's cheapest prices for new and switching customers.
They resell both superfast part fibre and full fibre connections across the nationally available Openreach network, with availability to 98% of UK homes.
Customers can choose from two part fibre broadband plans, and five full fibre broadband plans where the new, faster, connections are available:
It's possible to take any of Onestream's broadband plans as a data-only line, or add a digital phone line with pay as you go or unlimited UK anytime calls.
There is also the choice of either a 12 or 24-month minimum term contract, with the shorter contract length coming with a slightly higher activation fee and monthly cost.
Customers can also choose between a dual-band WiFi 5 or WiFi 6 router, or even to save money by supplying their own equipment, with Onestream providing the information on how to do that.
Onestreams' full fibre broadband plans are now available to over 19 million premises, or 60% of UK homes, with the rollout by Openreach steadily increasing coverage.
Households yet to be connected to full fibre can still order Onestream broadband but will be connected using part fibre technology, where the fibre optic cable goes to street cabinet and the old copper phone line cable connects to your home. This is available to most remaining homes, covering over 94% of homes.
In terms of the full fibre rollout, Openreach aim to connect a total of 25 million homes within the next two years, by the end of 2026, and are building at a fairly rapid rate.
As such, it's a good idea to check your postcode for any recent developments and see which Onestream broadband packages are available in your area.
Onestream offer customers a choice of different broadband speeds, although some options will be dependent on location.
Those living in full fibre enabled areas will be able to choose from superfast speeds up to gigabit broadband speeds of 900Mbps on average.
The average download and upload speeds of each Onestream full fibre broadband plan are:
Average download speed | Average upload speed | |
---|---|---|
Full Fibre 80 | 74Mb | 18Mb |
Full Fibre 115 | 100Mb | 18Mb |
Full Fibre 220 | 200Mb | 26Mb |
Full Fibre 550 | 500Mb | 66Mb |
Full Fibre 1000 | 900Mb | 101Mb |
However, for those yet to be reached by full fibre, the broadband speeds available are limited to either 38Mbps or 67Mbps part fibre connections.
The average download and upload speeds of each Onestream part fibre broadband plan are:
Average download speed | Average upload speed | |
---|---|---|
Fibre 40 | 38Mb | 9Mb |
Fibre 80 | 67Mb | 18Mb |
These average broadband speeds must be received by at least 50% of Onestream's customers during the peak network hours of 8pm to 10pm in the evening.
Customers will also be provided with personalised estimate speeds and a minimum guaranteed download speed, which if the connection falls below for 3 days or more, customers become able to exit their contract penalty free.
The prices for Onestream broadband listed in the table above are for new customers only, which means you'll need to have not had an account with Onestream for at least 3 months to qualify.
Current deals for new customers joining Onestream broadband focus primarily on introductory prices for the length of the minimum term.
We list the latest Onestream broadband deals available above, and keep our data updated on a weekly basis or as soon as the offers change.
Prices may be cheaper through our comparison service than on Onestream's website directly, so it's important to use the 'Get deals' button above and sign up online to get the listed prices.
Onestream broadband comes with a minimum contract period of 24 months, although customers can also choose a 12-month minimum term by paying an extra £10 upfront fee and slightly higher monthly prices.
Prices do increase at the end of the minimum term, although Onestream should send an end of contract notification to let customers know when their current deal is coming to an end and the options available to them.
Onestream increase prices for in-contract customers on an annual basis by £2.75 per month effective on 1st April of each year. However, for customers who join Onestream between 1st January and 31st March won't see price rises until the following year.
Cancelling the contract before the end of the minimum period will be subject to early termination charges, which will also include a charge for the router and any activation costs.
Onestream give customers the option to choose between either two or three routers, as well as the choice to reduce their monthly cost and provide their own.
Full fibre broadband customers can choose between the dual-band WiFi 5 Superstream router and the upgraded WiFi 6 Superstream+ router for £1 per month extra.
Both devices are made by TP Link and include the provider's TP-Link Tether app, allowing customers to manage the router and parental controls through their smartphone.
Onestream's Superstream is based on the TP Link VR1210v AC1200 dual-band router, which supports WiFi 5 as well as mesh technology and houses four 1Gb Ethernet LAN ports.
The Superstream+ upgrade is based on the TP Link VX230v AX1800 dual-band router, which supports the newer WiFi 6 protocol with wireless speeds up to 1.8Gbps, and mesh.
Although Onestream don't offer a WiFi guarantee, they can provide customers with a wireless booster for an extra £4.95 per month.
Onestream customers on part fibre plans can also choose the cheaper Standard router, which offers a single-band wireless channel as well as wired LAN ports.
Onestream make it clear that customers are allowed to use their own broadband router, and will provide them with the DSL credentials needed to authenticate the connection.
Onestream say it's the customers responsibility to choose a compatible router however, so it's unlikely they'll provide additional support for those who do use their own equipment.
Opting to provide your own equipment can save from £2.95 to £4.95 per month against the listed prices in our table, based on the standard router options.
All Onestream broadband plans can be taken with a home phone line, with the PhoneLine+ service costing from £7.50 per month.
Additional call plans can also be added, with the PhoneLine+ Unlimited plan bundling anytime calls to UK landlines and UK mobiles for £20 per month.
When moving to Onestream broadband it's possible to keep your home phone number but you will need to ensure you sign up to a compatible broadband deal and opt for the home phone service, which costs from £7.50 extra per month on top of any broadband prices.
Customers will also have to pay a £14.99 porting fee to keep their current telephone number.
Onestream Assured can be added to any broadband deal and offers customers premium support with priority call-outs for any faults, and covering the cost of call outs if the problem is deemed to be from wiring inside your home.
Onestream Assured costs £4.95 per month and can be cancelled at any time. New customers can currently benefit from the service for free for the first two months.
