Who is Sky Full Fibre 75 best for?

Sky Full Fibre 75 is a good option for those coming to full fibre broadband for the first time, who don't want to overspend on speeds they don't need.

It's Sky's entry-level full fibre plan and is their cheapest option for those who live in an Openreach FTTP network area.

Full Fibre 75 offers average download speeds of 75Mbps, with average upload speeds of 16Mbps, so will be suitable for:

  • Small to medium sized households
  • Where one to two people are going online at the same time
  • Streaming TV and films in up to 4K Ultra HD resolution
  • Making or receiving video calls in HD or Ultra HD
  • Gaming online in the cloud with Xbox, PlayStation, Switch or PC

While 75Mbps full fibre broadband will easily support speed critical applications that may be used when working from home, or gaming online, it will work best when only one or two people are going online simultaneously.

Customers in larger homes, or where more people will be going online at the same time, may benefit from the increased speeds of Sky's Full Fibre 150 plan, which also only costs an extra £1 per month.

Overall, Sky Full Fibre 75 is a great choice for those moving from part fibre or copper plans to full fibre for the first time, and will be adequate for smaller homes that don't demand a lot from their Internet connection. Others may want to look at the next plan up.

What does Sky Full Fibre 75 offer?

Sky Full Fibre 75 offers a full fibre to the home broadband connection with average download speeds of 75Mbps at peak times.

Customers are provided with the latest WiFi 6 enabled Sky Max Hub router, and also get a digital home phone line included at no extra cost.

Package Broadband Monthly price Upfront price Contract term
Full Fibre 75 75Mb average £26 £5 24 months
offer Offer: WiFi Max just £3/mth + (£5 refundable setup fee for new customers if applicable)
Full Fibre 150 150Mb average £29 £5 24 months
offer Offer: WiFi Max just £3/mth + (£5 refundable setup fee for new customers if applicable)

Currently, Sky Full Fibre 75 costs £27 per month and is Sky's cheapest full fibre broadband plan. Setup is £5, but this upfront fee, taken for credit checking purposes, is refunded on a customer's first bill.

While Sky now include the Sky Max Hub as standard on full fibre plans, customers can still take the WiFi Max add-on for an extra £3 per month, which includes a whole home WiFi guarantee with up to three Plume WiFi Pods.

One notable downside to Sky Full Fibre 75 is the whole home WiFi guarantee only promises minimum download speeds over wireless of 10Mbps, while the next plan up - Full Fibre 150 - promises 25Mbps.

Additionally, while most households moving to full fibre for the first time will find the Full Fibre 75 plan adequate for their needs, Sky's Full Fibre 150 plan costs just £1 per month extra, yet offers double the download speed, as well as a faster wireless guarantee.

The minimum term on Sky broadband is 24 months, and while Sky don't have an explicit annual price rise policy, they do say 'prices may rise', and were last increased by an average of 6.7% in April 2024.

Sky Full Fibre 75 has replaced Sky's Superfast plan for those living in full fibre enabled areas as of September 2024.

Sky Full Fibre 75 + calls

Sky Full Fibre 75 comes with a digital home phone line as standard, and users can receive calls and make them on a pay as you go basis.

Standard calling costs for Sky Talk are currently 27p per minute for UK landline and mobile calls, plus a 25p connection charge.

Customers can also choose to upgrade to one of the following Sky Talk plans:

Call plan Includes Monthly price
Talk Evenings & Weekends Extra Unlimited evening calls (7pm to 7am) and weekend calls to UK landlines and UK mobiles £8
Talk Anytime Extra Unlimited anytime calls to UK landlines and UK mobiles £16
Talk International Extra As above plus unlimited landline calls to 50 international destinations £18

Call plans have a minimum contract term of 24 months and so they can't be cancelled early without penalty. Inclusive calls are also limited to a maximum of 60 minutes before callers need to hang up and redial.

Sky Full Fibre 75 + TV

One of main benefits of Sky broadband is the discounts available for customers who also bundle Sky TV.

Sky Full Fibre 75 is available from as little as £17 per month when taken with a Sky TV deal, saving customers £10 per month on taking the services separately.

Package TV Broadband Monthly price Upfront price Contract term
Sky Entertainment + Netflix + Full Fibre 75 150 75Mb average £37 Free 24 months
offer Offer: Save £8/mth on Sky Entertainment & Netflix + Sky broadband just £17/mth + Free setup (Ends 06/11/2024)

Sky Entertainment & Netflix comes with the Sky Stream Box, which no longer requires a satellite dish and instead works over the Internet connection.

This plan usually costs £20 per month for new customers when taken alone, so you can see the savings when both TV and broadband services are taken together.

Customers can also bundle Sky Full Fibre 75 with Sky Glass, a dedicated TV set with a built-in Sky box, and they'll receive similar savings.

Sky Full Fibre 75 vs Full Fibre 150

As we've looked at above, Sky's next plan up - Full Fibre 150 - costs just £1 per month more than Full Fibre 75, yet, offers twice the average download speed of 150Mbps.

Both plans come with the same setup fee and minimum term contract, as well as the same router and digital home phone line options.

Package Broadband Monthly price Upfront price Contract term
Full Fibre 75 75Mb average £26 £5 24 months
offer Offer: WiFi Max just £3/mth + (£5 refundable setup fee for new customers if applicable)
Full Fibre 150 150Mb average £29 £5 24 months
offer Offer: WiFi Max just £3/mth + (£5 refundable setup fee for new customers if applicable)

Out of contract prices for these plans are similar, with Sky Full Fibre 75 reverting to a standard price of £43 per month at the end of the minimum term, while Sky Full Fibre 150 will increase to £40 per month.

Of course, Sky send end of contract notifications to all customers before the end of their minimum term, and so it's possible to re-contract with Sky for a better price again.

Should you upgrade?

People who think they may benefit from the faster speeds of Full Fibre 150 should seriously consider the upgrade as it costs just £1 more per month than the Full Fibre 75 plan, yet combines faster download and upload speeds with the option of a faster whole home wireless guarantee as well.

How does Sky Full Fibre 75 compare?

Sky's Full Fibre 75 plan compares to equivalent speed options from other Openreach network retailers, including BT, TalkTalk, Plusnet, and Vodafone.

In terms of price, we can see from the table below Sky's Full Fibre 75 plan is competitively priced, although there are cheaper options:

Package Broadband Monthly price Upfront price Contract term
Full Fibre 75 75Mb average £26 £5 24 months

Full Fibre 75 75Mb average £23 Free 24 months

Full Fibre 74 74Mb average £27.99 Free 24 months

For the budget conscious, cheaper broadband plans can be found with NOW and Vodafone, although NOW Broadband comes with the older Sky Broadband Hub, while Sky Full Fibre 75 customers get the new Sky Max Hub.

Other providers including Plusnet, TalkTalk, and BT, are priced above Sky's Full Fibre 75 plan, making it a good choice for those who want to save money, as well as access a better router, home phone line, and a provider with a history of good customer service.

Overall, Sky Full Fibre 75 is a good balance between price and service extras, with few rival options coming in cheaper.

How fast is Sky Full Fibre 75?

Sky Full Fibre 75 offers a full fibre to the home connection with average download speeds of 75Mbps and average upload speeds of 16Mbps.

Average download speed at peak times Average upload speed at peak times
Sky Full Fibre 75 75Mb 16Mb
Sky Full Fibre 150 150Mb 27Mb

Average speeds must be received by at least 50% of a provider's customer base between the peak hours of 8pm to 10pm in the evening, so potential customers can be confident of the speeds they'll receive.

As a full fibre to the home connection, speeds should be more reliable too, with distances and older cabling no longer affecting the broadband performance.

For those who want faster broadband speeds however, Sky's Full Fibre 150 plan is worth considering as well, it currently costs just £1 extra per month but boosts the download speed to 150Mbps and upload speeds to 27Mbps.

Minimum download speeds

As a signatory of Ofcom's code of conduct on broadband speeds, Sky offers all customers a minimum download speed guarantee, which works much like a service guarantee.

If customers don't receive the minimum guaranteed speed for 3 days in a row, and Sky can't resolve the issue within 30 days of being given notice, the customer will be free to exit their contract early and without having to pay any fees to do so.

Here are some example speeds from a test location for Sky's Full Fibre 75 plan:

Minimum guaranteed download speed
Sky Full Fibre 75 50Mbps
Sky Full Fibre 150 100Mbps

In addition to this industry standard speed guarantee, Sky also offer customers one month's broadband subscription refunded and the option to switch broadband plan at no extra cost.

If the speed issues occur within 30 days of activating the broadband line, Sky will also refund any upfront fees a customer has paid - although, at the time of writing, there is no upfront cost for Sky broadband.

To check speeds being received, customers should use the MySky app and allow any new connections to settle for 14 days.

WiFi guarantee

Sky's WiFi Max add-on can be taken with Sky Full Fibre 75 for an extra £3 per month.

WiFi Max includes a whole home WiFi guarantee, where up to three Plume WiFi Pods are provided by Sky which can be placed around a home to help boost coverage and speeds in different rooms.

Along with the WiFi guarantee, WiFi Max also includes upgraded parental controls and security tools found via the MySky app.

This is one area where customers may want to consider the upgrade to Sky Full Fibre 150, because the WiFi guarantee only promises minimum download speeds over wireless of 10Mbps on plans under 100Mb, while faster plans are guaranteed 25Mbps.

This could be an issue where a customer feels they need two or more WiFi booster devices, but if speeds are 10Mbps in every room Sky may not supply additional devices.

Router

All Sky full fibre broadband plans now come with the newer Sky Max Hub, and this includes Sky Full Fibre 75.

sky max hub

The Sky Max Hub was launched in July 2023 and supports WiFi 6, or 802.11ax, so will connect at faster speeds to WiFi 6 devices, like Sky Stream and Sky Glass, along with newer mobile phones, tablets and laptops.

Other features are similar to the previous Sky Broadband Hub though, including 8 internal antennae, 4 x 1Gb Ethernet LAN ports for wired connections, and mesh support for the optional WiFi guarantee.

Verdict: Is Sky Full Fibre 75 any good?

Sky Full Fibre 75 is the provider's entry-level full fibre option and their cheapest broadband plan.

It's a good option for those moving to full fibre broadband for the first time, and will best suit smaller households where one to two people are going online at the same time.

However, there are real advantages to upgrading to Sky's faster Full Fibre 150 plan, which costs just £1 per month extra, yet, includes download speeds that are twice as fast, as well as a faster 25Mbps wireless guarantee for those who need better coverage at home.

Overall, Full Fibre 75 is competitively priced, coming in cheaper than rivals including Plusnet, TalkTalk and BT, and customers can save even more if they bundle a Sky TV deal.
