Taken standalone, Sky Full Fibre 75 and 150 cost £23 per month, Full Fibre 300 costs £28 per month, and Full Fibre 500 costs £27 per month - so the saving on broadband ranges from around £3 to over £8 per month depending on the speed tier. Full Fibre 300 in particular sees the steepest discount when bundled with TV.

The TV and broadband subscriptions run on 24-month minimum terms. Sky Full Fibre broadband is available to around 60% of UK homes - customers outside its coverage area can still take Sky Essential TV standalone with their existing provider.

Sky Essential TV includes one Sky Stream Puck box as standard. Setup is straightforward - connect it to your TV via the included HDMI cable, plug into mains power, and link to your broadband either wirelessly over WiFi 6 (802.11ax) or via the included Ethernet cable.

Sky broadband isn't required - any home broadband delivering at least 25Mbps will support Sky Stream, with 35Mbps recommended for Ultra HD viewing.

For households that want to watch in more than one room, the Whole Home add-on costs £12 per month and includes one additional Puck, with further Pucks available at £39.95 each as a one-off cost. Up to five additional Pucks can be added under a single Whole Home subscription.

For those who'd rather not pay extra, the Sky Go app is included free with any Sky TV subscription on Android phones and tablets (including Huawei and Amazon Fire devices), iPhone and iPad, Mac, Windows, and Chromebook.

Watching on games consoles - PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X - requires either a Whole Home, Multiscreen, or Sky Go Extra subscription. Apple TV access carries the same requirement.

Verdict: Is Sky Essential TV any good?

The context around Sky Atlantic has shifted, though. It's no longer exclusive to Sky following its arrival on Virgin Media in April 2026, and Sky's HBO output deal ended in March 2026, meaning new HBO originals now go to HBO Max rather than the channel. Sky Atlantic remains worthwhile for Sky Originals and continuing franchise series, but it's a less distinctive selling point than it was a year ago.

Where Essential TV still makes a strong case is as a platform. The Sky Stream Puck has broad app support, premium channel packs available on flexible terms, and a unified interface that pulls content together across services. For households who want Sky Sports or Sky Cinema without a full Sky Entertainment commitment, it's one of the more cost-effective ways to get there.

For households who'd subscribe to several of those anyway, the jump to Ultimate TV at £24 per month is worth considering.
