Who is Sky Full Fibre 150 best for?
Sky Full Fibre 150 offers average download speeds of 150Mbps on a full fibre connection in Openreach enabled areas.
It's an ideal entry-level option for those moving to full fibre for the first time, and should adequately support most homes, especially those where two to four people are sharing a connection and going online at the same time.
Full Fibre 150 is suitable for:
- Streaming live and on-demand TV in either HD or Ultra HD
- Gaming online live, although downloading large game files would be quicker with a faster package
- Working from home for one or two people simultaneously
- Video calling in HD or UHD
- Supporting a number of smart home devices, including smart speakers
Sky renamed their Ultrafast plan to Full Fibre 150 in September 2024 to improve clarity around the connection type that a customer would receive with the plan.
It sits between Sky's Full Fibre 75 and Full Fibre 500 (previously Superfast and Ultrafast Plus) plans in terms of download speed, and is currently priced competitively compared to similar speed deals.
Sky Full Fibre 150 is also only £1 more per month than Sky Full Fibre 75, so many customers looking at that plan may decide the upgrade to the faster speeds offered here is better value for money.
Moving up again, to Sky Full Fibre 500, is an extra £5 per month, so Full Fibre 150 offers a good balance between speed and price that will suit many households.

Sky Full Fibre 150 is double the speed of Sky's Full Fibre 75 plan, but slower than the next plan up - Sky Full Fibre 500 - which offers average download speeds of 500Mbps.
In terms of price however, there's not as much between these three plans as you may expect, with Sky Full Fibre 75 costing just £1 less than Full Fibre 150, and Sky Full Fibre 500 costing £5 more per month.
Out of contract prices increase to £40 per month on Sky Full Fibre 150, but this is less than the £43 out of contract price for Sky Full Fibre 75. Additionally, for those willing to recontract at the end of the minimum term they should be offered a lower price again.
All of Sky's full fibre broadband plans now come with the newer WiFi 6 enabled Sky Max Hub, and customers can upgrade to a 25Mbps WiFi guarantee for £3 per month extra.
Customers can expect to see annual price rises, with Sky increasing prices by an average of 6.7% in April 2024, and including "prices may rise" terms in their conditions

---|---|---|---|---|---|
Full Fibre 150 | 150Mb average | £29 | £5 | 24 months | |

At the end of the minimum term, Sky Full Fibre 150 increases to £40 per month, while Sky Full Fibre 500 increases to slightly more at £46 per month. However, customers on either package would receive end of contract notifications from Sky with the option to re-contract at better prices or switch away.
Should you upgrade?
The additional download and upload speeds offered by Sky Full Fibre 500 make it a worthwhile upgrade over Full Fibre 150 for larger households, especially where more than one occupant will be going online and using the broadband connection at the same time.
The faster 500Mbps average download speeds will better cope with multiple users and devices, as well as offer speedier downloads on larger files, and more stable video calls especially in UHD.
While Full Fibre 150 will be adequate for most homes, the small increase in price could be worth the speed upgrade, but watch out for offers as this could change.
How does Sky Full Fibre 150 compare?
Sky Full Fibre 150 is delivered over the Openreach full fibre to the premises network, which is also used by providers including BT, TalkTalk, Plusnet, and Sky-owned NOW Broadband.
Like Sky, many of these providers also sell a 150Mbps plan, so there are a few direct comparisons we can make with Sky Full Fibre 150.
Package | Broadband | Monthly price | Upfront price | Contract term | |

Full Fibre 150 | 150Mb average | £29 | £5 | 24 months | |

Full Fibre 150 | 152Mb average | £28 | Free | 18 months | |
Offer: Free setup and P&P |
Sky Full Fibre 150 is priced around the same as equivalent plans from rivals Plusnet and TalkTalk, although Vodafone offer a cheaper deal which also comes with a WiFi 6 router.
Plusnet and TalkTalk's deals come without a home phone line, and BT customers would have to pay an extra £5 per month on top of the more expensive £33.99 per month price.
Sky also have the upper hand with an untarnished customer service record, which many of the other budget providers fail to match.
For those living in Virgin Media network area, they also offer a M125 broadband plan for less than Sky's Full Fibre 150 option, currently priced at just £24 per month for a limited time, although customers miss out on a phone line and will receive an older WiFi 5 router.
Overall, Sky Full Fibre 150 is well priced and offers tangible benefits over packages of a similar price or more each month.

How fast is Sky Full Fibre 150?
Sky Full Fibre 150 offers average download speeds of 150Mbps and average upload speeds of 27Mbps over a full fibre to the home connection.
Average download speed at peak times | Average upload speed at peak times | |
---|---|---|
Sky Full Fibre 75 | 75Mb | 16Mb |
Sky Full Fibre 150 | 150Mb | 27Mb |
Sky Full Fibre 500 | 500Mb | 60Mb |
Average speeds must be received by at least 50% of a provider's customer base between the peak hours of 8pm to 10pm in the evening, so potential customers can be confident of the speeds they'll receive.
As a full fibre to the home connection, speeds should be more stable as the fibre lines come right into a customer's home, in comparison to older fibre to the cabinet technology where the last mile of cabling is the old copper phone cable which is affected by distance.
We've also listed Sky Full Fibre 500 here to show the faster speeds on offer by upgrading, with prices just £5 more each month for new Sky broadband customers.
Minimum speed guarantee
As well as average broadband speeds, Sky broadband customers will also receive a minimum download speed guarantee when they sign up.
This minimum speed is effectively a service level guarantee that if download speeds drop below this minimum for 3 days in a row customers will be free to leave their contract as long as they give the provider 30 days to try and resolve the issue.
Minimum guaranteed download speed | |
---|---|
Sky Full Fibre 75 | 50Mbps |
Sky Full Fibre 150 | 100Mbps |
Sky Full Fibre 500 | 400Mbps |
Minimum guaranteed speeds may vary between properties, so this is just an example, but we can see the difference between Sky's full fibre plans is noticeable.

WiFi speed guarantee
In addition to a minimum guaranteed download speed to the router, Sky also promise customers a minimum speed over wireless throughout their home.
The Wall-to-Wall guarantee comes free with all Sky broadband packages and promises minimum wireless speeds of 3Mbps in every room, and if this isn't achieved customers can claim one month's broadband subscription back as a refund.
For those on full fibre packages like Full Fibre 150 however, 3Mbps over wireless may seem paltry, so it's also possible to upgrade to Sky WiFi Max for an extra £3 per month and have the WiFi guarantee boosted up to 25Mbps.
With this, customers get up to three WiFi boosters, as well as additional tools added to the MySky app, including advanced parental controls and security.
Current pricing make this WiFi guarantee one of the cheapest add-ons available, and it also offers one of the fastest speed promises too, making it a good upgrade option for Sky Full Fibre 150.
Router
Sky Full Fibre 150 comes with the new Sky Max Hub as standard, which offers dual-band wireless up to the WiFi 6 protocol, or 802.11ax, as well as upgraded security using WPA3.
Customers with newer devices, including Sky Stream or Sky Glass, will find benefit from this new router, as they both also support the faster WiFi 6 protocol.
How is Sky Full Fibre installed?
Sky Full Fibre is provided over the Openreach FTTP network, which means an Openreach engineer will come and install the broadband connection if a customer hasn't had full fibre before.
The installation involves running new cable into a home, installing a fibre modem on the wall, which is then connected to a new router. For this reason, customers will need two mains power points available close to the site they choose for the fibre modem to be located, which will also need to be close to where the fibre cable comes into their home.
Full fibre installation can take around two to three hours depending on how much work is needed to get the cable to your property.
When ordering Sky Full Fibre customers should expect to wait at least two weeks for the installation to be booked in.
Anyone who's already had a full fibre broadband connection through Openreach, and is now looking to switch to Sky broadband should be able to move fairly seamlessly without an engineer appointment needed.
Verdict: Is Sky Full Fibre 150 any good?
Sky is a good choice as a full fibre broadband provider, due to their service extras including a WiFi 6 router, discounts on Sky TV, digital phone line, and unparalleled customer service record.
As an entry-level package, Full Fibre 150 offers good value for money, currently costing just £28 per month and bringing it in line with other Openreach retailers.
Current pricing also means Full Fibre 150 is a good upgrade option over Sky's Full Fibre 75 plan, as it costs just £1 extra per month for double the download speed.
Sky Full Fibre 150 can also be bundled with Sky TV, where customers pay just £19 per month for the broadband deal, making it a great choice for those who also want home entertainment.
