TNT Sports subscriptions

Last updated: 9 September 2024   By Lyndsey Burton

TNT Sports is the new home for BT Sport, with subscriptions available from Sky, Virgin Media, BT, and Discovery Plus.

BT Sport rebranded to TNT Sports in July 2023, after BT formed a joint venture with Warner Bros. Discovery.

While Eurosport is currently keeping its name, it will eventually join the BT Sport channels under the new TNT Sports brand.

For now, prices for TNT Sports subscriptions remain the same, and customers can sign up with Sky, Virgin Media, BT, or via the Discovery+ app.

Cheapest way to get TNT Sports

The cheapest way to watch TNT Sports is currently with Virgin Media Stream TV, with the channel pack discounted to £16.20 per month after the 10% bill credit offer.

However, Virgin Stream TV is only available to Virgin Media broadband customers and those living within its network area. So, some households may have to look elsewhere at deals from Sky and BT for nationwide availability.

BT is the second cheapest way to watch TNT Sports, with their Sports TV bundle costing an extra £20 per month on top of any BT broadband deal. While Sky TV customers can currently add the TNT Sports pack for £26 per month.

Here are the current best deals for TNT Sports subscriptions:

Package TV Broadband Monthly price Upfront price Contract term
M125 Fibre Broadband + Stream + TNT Sports 57 132Mb average £43 £35 18 months
offer Offer: Reduced price: £25 per month + TNT Sports just £18/mth + Get 10% Stream credit back on every subscription you add to Stream
Sport + Full Fibre 100 77 150Mb average £53.99 £31.99 24 months
offer Offer: Free setup on EE TV (was £30) (Ends 14/11/2024)
Bigger Combo bundle + TNT Sports 194 362Mb average £57.99 Free 18 months

Sky Entertainment + Netflix + TNT Sports + Full Fibre 75 154 75Mb average £63 £10 24 months
offer Offer: Save £4/mth on TNT Sports + Save £8/mth on Sky Entertainment & Netflix + Reduced price broadband

TNT Sports is generally cheaper to add to a pay TV bundle, like those above, than subscribing directly through Discovery+.

Customers are able to save as much as £14.79 per month by bundling, however, as the table above shows, the actual cost is more than this with the addition of the main TV channel pack and the broadband package, which is often a requirement. BT and Virgin Media TV is only available with their broadband, for example.

The cheapest TNT Sports pack is with Virgin Stream, as customers can add the pack for as little as £16.20 per month including discounts, and Virgin broadband costs as little as £24 per month for 132Mbps speeds.

For those who really only want TNT Sports though, it's possible to take a subscription via a Discovery+ Premium Membership plan for £30.99 a month. With this, customers can watch on a TV, computer, tablet, or smartphone, as long as they have a smart device which supports the Discovery+ app.

TNT Sports with broadband

TNT Sports subscriptions are available in bundle deals with broadband from Virgin Media, Sky and BT, and these offers all allow viewing from a main TV set with a compatible box provided.

Of the deals listed above, Virgin Media offers the most comprehensive TNT Sports subscription as they include all four channels in 1080p HD, plus the TNT Sports Ultimate channel in 4K. This applies to customers signing up to Virgin Stream or those adding the channel pack to the Big Bundle, Bigger Bundle or Mega Volt Bundle with TV 360.

For those subscribing via Sky, they'll get the four TNT Sports channels in 1080p HD, but will have to pay an extra £4 per month for the TNT Sports Ultimate channel by adding the Ultra HD pack.

BT TV customers will only receive the four TNT Sports channels in SD, and will have to pay an extra £6 per month to view them in 1080p HD, although this also gets them the TNT Sports Ultimate channel in 4K.

It's also possible to sign up to TNT Sports through TalkTalk TV, for those with the newer Android TV Hub, but customers will need to take out a separate TNT Sports subscription through the Discovery+ app for £30.99.

TNT Sports with Virgin Media

Virgin Media is the cheapest way to subscribe to TNT Sports, but customers need to be living in a Virgin Media enabled area, which so far, is only 16 million premises, or 55% of the UK.

For those who can get it, they've a choice of two options: either subscribe to Virgin Media TV and get a range of live TV channels as well, or, just opt for Virgin Media broadband and a Stream TV box.

Stream TV is by far the cheapest option, but it's worth remembering Stream is purely Freeview with additional costs for any other content. However, channel packs like Entertainment, Sky Cinema, and Sky Sports, are all available on rolling monthly contracts.

In comparison, those taking TNT Sports through Virgin Media's pre-made bundles, can add the channel pack at a cost of £18 per month, but they'll miss out on the 10% bill credit offer which is exclusive to Virgin Stream TV.

Current pricing for TNT Sports deals with Virgin Media include:

Package TV Broadband Monthly price Upfront price Contract term
M125 Fibre Broadband + Stream + TNT Sports 57 132Mb average £43 £35 18 months
offer Offer: Reduced price: £25 per month + TNT Sports just £18/mth + Get 10% Stream credit back on every subscription you add to Stream
Bigger Combo bundle + TNT Sports 194 362Mb average £57.99 Free 18 months
offer Offer: Customise bundle to add TNT Sports + No setup fee (was £35)

TNT Sports subscriptions are cheapest with Virgin Media, and customers get all four channels in full 1080p HD, plus the TNT Sports Ultimate channel in 4K included as standard.

To watch in 4K remember that customers will also need an Ultra HD-ready TV.

TNT Sports with BT

BT still own 50% of TNT Sports, with the channels only rebranding from BT Sport in July last year.

You'd think then that BT TV would be the best place to subscribe to TNT Sports, but conversely it has some drawbacks.

Customers subscribing to TNT Sports on BT TV only get the four main channels in SD as standard, and have to pay an extra £6 per month for the HD pack to watch in 1080p HD and also access the TNT Sports Ultimate channel in 4K.

However, BT is still slightly cheaper than Sky, as Sky customers also have to pay extra for the TNT Sports Ultimate channel.

Here are two BT TV and broadband plans with TNT Sports included:

Package TV Broadband Monthly price Upfront price Contract term
Sport + Full Fibre 100 77 150Mb average £53.99 £31.99 24 months
offer Offer: Free setup on EE TV (was £30) (Ends 14/11/2024)
Big Sport + Full Fibre 100 90 150Mb average £78.99 £31.99 24 months
offer Offer: Free setup on EE TV (was £30) (Ends 14/11/2024)

BT TV customers who take a plan with TNT Sports will get Discovery+ Premium included at no extra cost, so they'll also be able to watch Eurosport 1 & 2, and other on-demand sports content.

The Big Sport plan from BT TV is more expensive, but this also bundles Sky Sports, as well as access to Sky Sports+.

Unlike Sky, BT TV is only available to customers who also subscribe to BT broadband, although availability is much wider than for Virgin Media.

TNT Sports with Sky

Sky has nearly the most expensive price for TNT Sports, with the add-on costing £26 per month for the first 24 months, and then £30. That means it'll eventually be just 99 pence less expensive than subscribing directly through Discovery+.

It's cheaper for Sky customers to bundle TNT Sports with Sky Sports, as this brings the channel pack down to £24 per month for the first 24 months.

Sky's main selling point however, is all of their other content, including Sky Entertainment and Netflix, which is included as standard, as well as optional access to Sky Sports, Sky Cinema, and Sky Kids.

Customers with Sky also get Discovery+ Standard included at no extra cost, and Discovery+ Premium with the TNT Sports pack. And, unlike BT, all the TNT Sports channels are included in 1080p HD as standard as well.

So, while Sky TV prices look more expensive, remember that it generally includes more content than packages listed for Virgin Media and BT.

Package TV Broadband Monthly price Upfront price Contract term
Sky Entertainment + Netflix + TNT Sports 154 N/a £46 Free 24 months
offer Offer: Save £4/mth on TNT Sports + Save £8/mth on Sky Entertainment & Netflix + Free setup (worth £39.95)
Sky Entertainment + Netflix + TNT Sports + Full Fibre 75 154 75Mb average £63 £10 24 months
offer Offer: Save £4/mth on TNT Sports + Save £8/mth on Sky Entertainment & Netflix + Reduced price broadband
Sky Entertainment + Netflix + Sky Sports + TNT Sports + Full Fibre 75 163 75Mb average £81 £10 24 months
offer Offer: Save £8/mth on Sky Sports + Save £6/mth on TNT Sports + Save £8/mth on Sky Entertainment & Netflix

Sky TV customers also have more flexibility in that they can subscribe to Sky Stream without also taking Sky broadband, although as the table above shows, there are discounts for those that do.

The TNT Sports pack with Sky includes the four main channels in full 1080p HD, however, unlike Virgin Media, Sky don't include TNT Sports Ultimate as standard.

To watch TNT Sports Ultimate on Sky customers will also need to subscribe to the Ultra HD pack, which costs an extra £4 - £6 per month with Sky Stream. For this, customers also get other Sky content in Ultra HD too, including Sky Originals and Sky Atlantic.

Overall, Sky isn't the cheapest way to watch TNT Sports, but customers may prefer Sky's TV platform for their other entertainment content. The other benefit to Sky as well is the ability to subscribe without needing broadband, and it's available to all homes in the UK with just a minimum broadband speed requirement of 25Mbps, or 30Mbps for Ultra HD content.

Verdict: How to subscribe to TNT Sports

While it's possible to subscribe to TNT Sports as a standalone service through a Discovery Plus Premium membership for £30.99 per month, the cheapest way is in a bundle.

Virgin Media offer the cheapest TNT Sports subscription with their Stream TV service, with the add-on costing just £16.20 per month, when you also factor in the 10% bill credit offer.

Virgin Media's Big Bundle and Bigger Bundle are also an option, with TNT Sports costing an extra £18 per month. Like Stream, this includes all four TNT Sports channels in full 1080p HD, plus the TNT Sports Ultimate channel in 4K, as well as Virgin Media broadband.

Both Sky and BT offer the TNT Sports pack on a rolling monthly basis, with deals available for Sky customers who also bundle Sky Sports. TalkTalk TV customers can also add the pack through an app subscription if they have the Android TV hub.

Overall, a TV and broadband bundle will save customers the most money when subscribing to TNT Sports, but the right package will vary depending on location and other TV content preferences.
