Sky broadband has launched their first multi-gigabit packages, through CityFibre.
Sky has set a new benchmark in the UK broadband market by launching their fastest full fibre plans: Full Fibre 2.5 Gigafast+ and Full Fibre 5 Gigafast+.
These new multi-gigabit packages make Sky the fastest major broadband provider in the UK, although availability is limited to the CityFibre network.
Sky is also bundling a new Gigafast+ hub with support for WiFi 7 and WiFi Max included at no extra cost.

Based on their partnership with CityFibre, first announced in August 2024, Sky have launched their first multi-gigabit broadband plans through the network.
Sky Full Fibre 2.5 Gigafast+ will offer symmetrical download and upload speeds of 2.5Gbps, while the Full Fibre 5 Gigafast+ plan will offer symmetrical speeds of 5Gbps.
Both packages will be supplied with the new Gigafast+ hub capable of delivering ultrafast speeds and supporting the very latest WiFi 7 protocol.
Customers will be able to sign up online for the new Sky Gigafast+ broadband plans from Tuesday 15th July 2025, while the very eager will be able to subscribe from today by visiting a Sky store or call centre.
Sky Full Fibre 2.5 Gigafast+ will be priced from £70 per month, while Full Fibre 5 Gigafast+ will start at £80 per month.
Both options come with Sky's WiFi Max add-on included at no extra cost, which promises minimum download speeds of 25Mbps in every room and provides up to 3 Plume WiFi pods.
Sophia Ahmad, Chief Consumer Officer at Sky, said: "We're proud to be setting a new standard in UK broadband. With speeds up to 5 Gbps, our new Full Fibre Gigafast+ packages make Sky the UK's fastest major broadband provider. Combined with our existing full fibre range, we're offering more choice than ever before. Powered by cutting-edge WiFi 7 technology, these plans deliver smarter, faster, and more reliable connectivity to homes across the country."
Along with faster broadband plans comes a faster router, with Sky also launching its first WiFi 7 device, the Gigafast+ hub.
The new Sky Gigafast+ hub
Sky's Gigafast+ hub is a tri-band wireless 7 device, which means its capable of offering significantly higher speeds, lower latency, and improved efficiency compared to previous WiFi generations.
By operating across three frequency bands - 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and the newer 6GHz band - tri-band WiFi 7 routers can handle more simultaneous connections without congestion, making them ideal for busy households with multiple high-bandwidth devices.
The new hub introduces features like Multi-Link Operation (MLO), which allows devices to use multiple bands at once for faster, more stable connections, and 320MHz channels, which double the bandwidth of WiFi 6.
This makes tri-band WiFi 7 particularly effective for activities like 4K/8K streaming, cloud gaming, and video conferencing - all happening at once across different devices in the same home.
The Gigafast+ hub also houses two 10Gbps Ethernet ports - one WAN and one LAN - allowing users to bypass wireless bottlenecks entirely for ultra-fast, wired connections ideal for heavy file transfers, cloud gaming, or media servers.
Here are the main specifications of the new Gigafast+ router:
| WiFi channels | WiFi 7 Tri-band (802.11be) 2.4GHz 5GHz 6GHz |
|---|---|
| Ethernet ports |
 1 x 10Gb WAN (Wide Area Network) Port 4 x LAN Ports (Local Area Network) 1 x 10Gb LAN 3 x 1Gb LAN |
| Voice | Single RJ-11 |
| Dimensions | 125mm x 241mm (W x H) |
Beyond technical prowess, the hub's sleek cylindrical design, textured white casing, and laser-etched finish are meant to complement modern living spaces while signalling its premium status. This marks a clear shift from Sky's previous boxy routers toward a more contemporary aesthetic suited for visible placement in the home.
Greg Mesch, CEO of CityFibre, said: "Sky is making the most of CityFibre's full fibre network to offer its customers fast and reliable Multi-Gig speeds and an outstanding online experience. This partnership is bringing more choice and better broadband to millions of homes on CityFibre's nationwide, growing network - vital for how people live today and helping to deliver a healthy, competitive market for the long-term.".
