Sky Superfast 35 Broadband

Sky Superfast 35 is a part-fibre (FTTC) plan offered only where line conditions cannot support Superfast 80

Lyndsey Burton
Lyndsey Burton - Founder & Managing Director, Choose

Sky Superfast 35 offers average download speeds of 36Mb over a part-fibre (FTTC) connection and is typically offered only where line conditions cannot support the faster Superfast 80 package.

The plan includes a digital home phone line with pay as you go calls and the Sky Broadband Hub router as standard.

For most addresses, Superfast 80 or a full fibre package will be the default option. Superfast 35 generally appears only where copper line performance limits higher speeds.

Who is Sky Superfast 35 best for?

Sky Superfast 35 is suited to smaller households with light to moderate internet usage. With average download speeds of 36Mb, it can comfortably support everyday activities such as HD streaming, video calls and general browsing.

The plan is best for:

  • Homes with one or two people online at the same time
  • Streaming in HD on a single TV
  • Browsing, shopping and social media use
  • Properties where faster part-fibre or full fibre speeds are not available

Superfast 35 is not actively marketed and typically appears only where line conditions cannot support the faster Sky Superfast 80 package. Customers sign up to Superfast 80 as normal, and Sky will supply the 35Mb version where higher speeds cannot be delivered reliably.

If full fibre is available at your address, Sky's entry-level full fibre plans will usually provide more consistent performance at a similar monthly price.

What does Sky Superfast 35 offer?

Sky Superfast 35 is a part-fibre (FTTC) broadband plan offering average download speeds of 36Mb and average upload speeds of around 9Mb.

The plan follows the same structure as Sky Superfast 80, including a digital home phone line with pay as you go calls, the Sky Broadband Hub router and Sky's Wall-to-Wall WiFi guarantee.

Superfast 35 is now offered primarily where line estimates cannot reliably support higher part-fibre speeds. Where available, pricing and contract terms mirror Sky's standard Superfast package.

Package Includes Broadband Monthly price Upfront price Contract term
Superfast Broadband Broadband-only 67Mb average £24 £5 24 months
offer Offer: WiFi Max just £4/mth + £5 refundable setup fee for new customers if applicable
Sky Essential TV + Superfast Broadband Netflix, Sky Atlantic, Discovery+ 67Mb average £35 Free 24 months
offer Offer: Reduced price broadband + Free setup (worth £39.95)
Sky Ultimate TV + Superfast Broadband Netflix, Sky Atlantic, Discovery+, Sky Entertainment 67Mb average £39 Free 24 months
offer Offer: Save £10/mth on Sky Ultimate TV + Reduced price broadband + Free setup

Sky Superfast 35 offers average download speeds of 36Mb, comes with a 24-month minimum term, and has a £5 setup fee - which is currently refunded for new customers.

Customers in full fibre enabled areas will typically be offered Sky Full Fibre 75 as the entry-level option instead. Superfast 35 is delivered via part-fibre (FTTC) using the existing BT phone line infrastructure where full fibre has not yet been rolled out.

All Superfast 35 customers receive the Sky Broadband Hub at no extra cost, along with Sky's Wall-to-Wall WiFi guarantee, which promises minimum wireless speeds of 3Mb in every room or one month's subscription refunded.

Sky does not publish a fixed annual price rise formula, but broadband prices are confirmed to increase by £3 per month from April 2026. Customers affected by that increase will not be able to exit without penalty solely due to the April 2026 adjustment, although future price rises may trigger exit rights depending on the terms at the time.

Superfast 35 + calls

Sky Superfast 35 includes a digital home phone line as standard, with calls charged on a pay as you go basis.

Standard call charges are:

  • 27p per minute to UK landlines and UK mobiles
  • 25p connection fee per call

Customers who make regular calls can choose to add one of Sky's inclusive call plans:

Call plan Includes Monthly price
Sky Talk Evenings and Weekends Unlimited calls to UK landlines and UK mobiles Monday to Friday 7pm-7am and all weekend £8
Sky Talk Anytime Unlimited calls to UK landlines and UK mobiles at any time £17
Sky Talk International As above plus calls to 50 international destinations £18

Sky Talk plans run alongside the broadband contract on a 24-month minimum term.

Superfast 35 + Sky TV

Sky Superfast 35 can be taken as a standalone broadband plan or bundled with a Sky TV package.

Customers can combine Superfast 35 with Sky Essential TV, which includes Sky Atlantic, a range of Sky channels and Netflix, or with Sky Ultimate TV for a broader selection of entertainment channels and bundled streaming services.

Bundling broadband and TV together can reduce the effective monthly cost compared with taking the services separately, depending on current offers.

Package Includes Broadband Monthly price Upfront price Contract term
Sky Essential TV + Superfast Broadband Netflix, Sky Atlantic, Discovery+ 67Mb average £35 Free 24 months
offer Offer: Reduced price broadband + Free setup (worth £39.95)
Sky Ultimate TV + Superfast Broadband Netflix, Sky Atlantic, Discovery+, Sky Entertainment 67Mb average £39 Free 24 months
offer Offer: Save £10/mth on Sky Ultimate TV + Reduced price broadband + Free setup

Sky Superfast 35 can be bundled with either the Sky Stream Puck box or Sky Glass TV.

Sky recommends a minimum download speed of 30Mb for 4K Ultra HD viewing. With average speeds of 36Mb, Superfast 35 may support a single 4K stream, although performance can be affected if other devices are streaming or downloading at the same time.

For HD viewing (1080p), Sky advises a minimum speed of 25Mb. Superfast 35 should comfortably support one HD stream, but multiple simultaneous streams may lead to buffering, particularly if the connection is being shared.

Where customers plan to watch on tablets or phones, content can also be downloaded in advance using the Sky Go app, reducing the need for continuous streaming.

Superfast 35 vs Superfast 80

Customers sign up to Sky Superfast 80 as the standard part-fibre package. If line estimates show that speeds of 67Mb cannot be delivered reliably at a property, Sky will instead supply Superfast 35, which has an average download speed of 36Mb.

Pricing and contract terms are typically the same for both plans, with Superfast 80 currently priced at £25 per month for 24 months.

Where line conditions allow, Superfast 80 provides nearly double the average download speed and greater capacity for multiple users or devices online at the same time.

How does Sky Superfast 35 compare?

Most UK broadband providers no longer offer lower-speed sub-60 Mb plans, instead providing 60-70 Mb part-fibre packages as their standard option in areas not yet served by full fibre.

Because Superfast 35 is only supplied where higher part-fibre speeds cannot be reliably delivered, its closest comparators are these 60-70 Mb plans - even though the headline speed differs.

Package Broadband Monthly price Upfront price Contract term
Superfast Broadband 67Mb average £24 £5 24 months
offer Offer: WiFi Max just £4/mth + £5 refundable setup fee for new customers if applicable
Fibre 2 65Mb average £22.50 Free 24 months
offer Offer: Existing Vodafone pay monthly customers get a £75 bill credit + £2 off for Vodafone pay monthly customers
Fibre 66Mb average £22.99 Free 24 months
offer Offer: £50 Reward Card + No setup fee + Exclusive offers and discounts for Plusnet customers (Ends 18/03/2026)
Superfast 67Mb average £24 £5 24 months
offer Offer: £5 refundable advance fee for new customers if applicable

Similar 60-70Mb part-fibre packages from Sky-owned NOW Broadband, Vodafone and Plusnet are typically priced slightly below Sky's Superfast tier, while equivalent packages from BT and EE tend to sit slightly higher.

NOW Broadband operates on the same Openreach network as Sky and uses the same Sky Broadband Hub router. However, its WiFi add-on costs £6 per month compared with £4 for Sky's WiFi Max, and NOW customers do not receive discounted Sky TV bundle pricing.

Plusnet offers similar headline speeds at a lower monthly price, but does not include a digital home phone line as standard. BT and EE offer comparable part-fibre packages and can be bundled with their own TV services, though additional costs often apply for phone service and whole-home WiFi add-ons.

How fast is Sky Superfast 35?

Sky Superfast 35 offers average download speeds of 36Mb and average upload speeds of 9Mb at peak times.

The connection is delivered using part-fibre (FTTC) technology, where fibre runs to the street cabinet and the final stretch to the home uses the existing copper phone line. Because of this, speeds can vary depending on distance from the cabinet and line quality.

Where full fibre (FTTP) is available, Sky will typically offer its Full Fibre 75 plan instead at a similar price. Full fibre connections tend to deliver more consistent speeds, as the fibre runs directly into the property.

Advertised average speeds must be received by at least 50% of customers during peak evening hours (8pm-10pm), making them a more reliable benchmark than older "up to" claims.

Sky Speed Guarantee

Sky provides a personalised minimum guaranteed speed at sign-up. If speeds fall below that minimum for three consecutive days and Sky cannot resolve the issue within 30 days, customers can leave their contract without early termination charges.

Sky also offers a one-month broadband refund if the guaranteed minimum speed is not met. Customers can claim under this guarantee up to twice during their minimum term.

For Superfast 35, minimum guaranteed speeds are typically in the region of 25Mb, although the exact figure is confirmed individually during checkout.

WiFi guarantee

Sky includes its free Wall-to-Wall WiFi Guarantee, which promises minimum wireless speeds of 3Mb in every room or one month's broadband subscription refunded.

This is separate from the paid WiFi Max add-on, which costs from £4 per month and includes daily line checks, free off-peak engineer visits and 2GB of Sky Mobile data if the fixed connection goes down.

On a 36Mb connection, the 3Mb wireless guarantee represents a basic baseline suitable for browsing and light streaming, though households requiring stronger whole-home coverage may consider WiFi Max.

Router

Sky Superfast 35 customers receive the Sky Broadband Hub as standard. This is the same router supplied with Sky Superfast 80 and other part-fibre packages.

The Sky Broadband Hub supports dual-band wireless (2.4GHz and 5GHz) and WiFi 5 (802.11ac), along with WPA2 security. While WiFi 6 has now become common on newer routers, WiFi 5 remains widely supported across most household devices.

Specification Sky Broadband Hub
WiFi standard WiFi 5 (802.11ac)
Frequency bands Dual-band (2.4GHz + 5GHz)
Security WPA2
Ethernet ports 4 x Gigabit LAN
Mesh support Compatible with Sky WiFi Max
Antennae 8 internal antennae

The router is capable of supporting speeds well beyond the 36Mb delivered by Superfast 35.

Customers who experience weaker wireless coverage can upgrade to Sky WiFi Max from £4 per month. This includes the newer WiFi 6-enabled Sky Max Hub and, where required, mesh-style WiFi Pods to extend coverage around the home.

Verdict: Is Sky Superfast 35 any good?

Sky Superfast 35 is no longer a plan customers actively choose - it is supplied only where line conditions cannot support the faster Superfast 80 speeds.

In practical terms, most households signing up in part-fibre areas will receive Superfast 80. Superfast 35 is offered only where the copper line between the cabinet and the property limits achievable speeds.

With average download speeds of 36Mb, it is suitable for lighter household use - HD streaming, browsing, video calls and one or two devices online at once. It is not designed for larger homes with heavy simultaneous usage.

Customers still benefit from Sky's personalised minimum speed guarantee, Wall-to-Wall WiFi guarantee, bundled digital home phone line and the option to add Sky TV or WiFi Max.

Overall, Superfast 35 remains a functional entry-level fibre connection where higher speeds are not technically possible - but where faster part-fibre or full-fibre plans are available, they represent the stronger long-term option.
