Sky Black Friday: Need to know
Sky Superfast Broadband plans are provided over the Openreach fibre to the cabinet network, that means they're available to around 97% of UK homes.
Sky also offers Ultrafast and Gigafast broadband plans which can be bundled with both Sky Stream TV as well as standard Sky Q TV for extra discounts. Taken on their own Sky's full fibre broadband deals currently have no setup fee and include a home phone line with calls on a pay as you go basis.
Sky say prices may rise during a contract but don't specify by how much. This means if prices are increased above inflation a customer may be able to leave their contract early.
Sky broadband customers will receive a notification when their contract comes to an end, at this point they can choose to re-contract with Sky for a new lower price or switch away to another provider.
It is worth being aware however, as things stand, Sky don't inform Sky TV customers when their contract is expiring, so Sky TV customers should set a date in the diary to make sure they negotiate a new contract or switch before being moved onto high out of contract prices.
Sky are currently in discussions with Ofcom over whether or not they should be required to send end of contract notifications to their TV customers as well as their broadband ones.
Overall though, Sky have one of the best customer service records in both the broadband and TV markets, with high levels of satisfaction among customers according to independent research carried out by Ofcom.
