New Pro 3 broadband deals come with a WiFi 7 enabled router and booster device.

Vodafone has launched a new Pro 3 package option across their full fibre broadband deals, with an upgraded WiFi 7 Ultra Hub router.

Plans cost from £39 per month on the Full Fibre 150 speed tier, and include a WiFi 7 Ultra Hub, WiFi 7 booster and automatic 4G back-up device.

EE and LightSpeed have also recently launched WiFi 7 routers in recent months, while other providers play catch-up with WiFi 5 and 6 devices.

Pro 3 broadband

Vodafone full fibre broadband can now be taken with the Pro 3 upgrade, which bundles a newly upgraded WiFi 7 router, super booster, and an automatic 4G mobile broadband back-up device.

While prices haven't gone up from the previous Pro 2 packages, the advantages to upgrading to Pro 3 have, as the standard plan and Super WiFi options still come with the WiFi 6 Power Hub.

Vodafone Pro 3 broadband is only available with full fibre plans, and starts at £39 per month for 150Mbps download speeds.

Customers who want faster speeds can also opt for Pro 3 Full Fibre 500 for £40 per month, or Pro 3 Full Fibre 910 for £45 per month.

Pro 3 also comes as standard with Vodafone's fastest broadband with 1.6Gbps download speeds for £70 per month.

Vodafone pay monthly mobile customers can also get an extra £4 off each month when they sign up to Pro 3 broadband through Vodafone Together discounts.

WiFi 7 Ultra Hub

The new Pro 3 broadband Ultra Hub boosts upgraded WiFi speeds using the latest WiFi 7 protocol.

WiFi 7 can transfer data 20% faster than WiFi 6, according to the WiFi Alliance, it's also capable of providing lower latency and higher throughput from more efficient utilisation of the available spectrum.

While Vodafone Pro 3 comes with both a WiFi 7 router and WiFi 7 booster, which can work together at these faster speeds, other connecting devices in the home also need to support WiFi 7 to gain the most benefit.

This is trickier because WiFi 7 was only launched in 2024, and so far, few devices support the new protocol.

Comparing the previous WiFi 6E Ultra Hub with the new Pro 3 WiFi 7 Ultra Hub, we can see other upgrades in performance, however:

Ultra Hub WiFi 6E Ultra Hub WiFi 7
Bands Tri band WiFi 6E (2.4, 5, 6GHz) Dual band WiFi 7 (2.4, 5GHz)
WiFi Antennas 12 8
RAM 1GB 2GB
Flash 4GB 4GB
Ethernet ports 2 x 1Gbps 1 x 2.5Gbps + 2 x 1Gbps
Maximum broadband speed supported 2.5Gbps 2.5Gbps
Maximum speed over WiFi 1.68Gbps 2Gbps

Of course, opting for a WiFi 7 router also helps future proof a home wireless network, with any new devices purchased supported at faster speeds.

Best routers for broadband

Vodafone join EE and LightSpeed as the next provider to offer a WiFi 7 router with their broadband packages.

However, we've also seen other providers take aim at EE for misleading claims over the performance of its new WiFi 7 router, due in part, to compatibility of other devices owing to how new the WiFi 7 protocol is.

For example, if a household doesn't have any WiFi 7 devices, they simply won't experience the benefits of the faster protocol.

While it's useful to future proof a home WiFi system, many users may find they actually experience faster speeds with a Tri-band WiFi 6 router for example, where their devices only support up to WiFi 6.

To find out more, we look at the best routers to increase broadband speed in this guide, as well as which providers offer the fastest router with their broadband.
