Community Fibre broadband is currently offering no mid-contract price rises if you join by 4th November 2024.
Community Fibre, an independent full fibre broadband provider in London and the South East, is currently offering new customers fixed prices for the length of their contract.
This 'no mid-contract price rises' offer is available for new sign ups until 4th November 2024, and the provider offers a selection of contract lengths including 12, 18 and 24 months.
The offer comes as Ofcom moves to ban inflation-linked price rises, with other providers moving to pounds and pence-based rises instead.
Customers who sign up to any one of Community Fibre's broadband deals between now and the 4th November 2024 will receive an offer of no price rises for the duration of the contract.
This means new customers won't see any annual price rises during their minimum term, and they can also choose from contract lengths up to 24 months to benefit the most from this offer.
Community Fibre currently charge customers an annual price rise of Consumer Price Index (CPI) + 2.9%, which meant in April 2024 prices for customers went up by 6.9%.
On a broadband bill of £25, that would amount to an increase of £1.73 per month, which could add over £30 to the total cost of the contract over the minimum term.
Yet, from January 2025, broadband providers will no longer be able to add inflation-linked price rises to their contracts, with Ofcom ruling only pounds and pence-based rises will now be allowed.
Many other providers, including BT, Plusnet, EE and Vodafone, have already moved their pricing policies to a pounds and pence-based method, with most retailers now raising prices by £3 per month each year.
As a provider with other more ethical policies, it will be interesting to see if Community Fibre use this special offer as a dry run for moving to fixed prices overall, putting them in line with providers like Hyperoptic and Fibrus who already promise no mid-contract price hikes.
All of Community Fibre's broadband deals are eligible for the fixed price offer, with customers able to choose from average download speeds ranging from 75Mbps to 920Mbps, with symmetrical upload speeds on all plans too.
Prices currently start at just £18.99 per month for 150Mbps, which also includes a WiFi 6 enabled Linksys Mesh router and free setup.
However, even their fastest broadband deals are competitively priced, with Community Fibre's 500Mbps plan priced at just £23 per month for 24 months, while their 1Gbps option costs just £26 per month for 24 months - making it one of the cheapest gigabit broadband deals available.
Community Fibre have recently claimed customers could save up to £833 by switching to their 1Gbps Fibre Broadband plan compared to getting the same speeds with BT on their equivalent Full Fibre 900 package, which they say costs £1471.75 over the 24-month contract.
Although it's worth pointing out new customers to BT's Full Fibre 900 plan would actually only pay £44.99 per month, which puts the comparative cost difference with Community Fibre at £455.76 - still a pretty good saving.
