Latest flagship device from Oppo unveiled with a Snapdragon 888 processor and a microlens camera.
The microscopic camera is the most eye-catching feature of the new design, although it comes at the expense of a periscope lens.
The exterior of the device is also unusual with a moulded glass body which curves up towards the camera.
Pre-orders for the Oppo Find Pro X3 will be available from the end of this month and it releases in the UK on 14 April 2021.
The most revolutionary feature of the Oppo Find Pro X3 is undoubtedly the microlens camera.
It's a 3MP microlens that's capable of taking shots up to 60x magnification, ideal for taking microscopic photos without a DSLR camera.
While it might be a novelty for many phone users, there are definitely some professional photographers and artists who may find this feature enticing.
It does come at the expense of the type of periscope lens we see on the likes of the Huawei Mate 40 Pro, and that could put some customers off.
However, the primary camera within the Find Pro X3 has the same 50MP IMX766 sensor behind both the regular lens and the ultra-wide lens, effectively becoming a dual primary camera.
Oppo also point to the device's AI Scene Enhancement feature which automatically adjusts colour tones within photographs.
Beyond the unusual camera set-up and body style, some of the specs of the Oppo Find X3 Pro are impressive too.
For example, it comes with 12GB of RAM as standard, far above the 8GB offered by Google in their latest flagship, the budget-friendly Pixel 5.
The 6.7in AMOLED display also uses the dynamic refresh rate technology utilised by Samsung in their S21 Ultra, and the Snapdragon 888 chip is the latest available for Android devices.
Further specs include:
One extra thing to note for customers who may be new to Oppo is their Android-based operating system ColorOS is heavily customised, so it may look a little unusual at first glance. However, it is highly customisable through themes and manual tweaks.
The Oppo Find X3 Pro will be released in the UK on 14 April 2021 and will cost £1,099 if purchased outright.
That puts it in line with Apple iPhone 12 Pro and slightly cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra at release.
While the Find X3 Pro is the flagship release, Oppo are also releasing two other devices in Europe at the same time: the Find X3 Lite and the Find X3 Neo.
Priced at £379 and £699 respectively, both these devices include OLED displays and 65W fast charging.
The Oppo Find X3 Lite includes:
Meanwhile, the Oppo Find X3 Neo offers:
It may seem odd there is no standard Find X3 model on sale in the UK, but this was a deliberate decision by Oppo to help customers differentiate the devices.
Given some of the confusing terminology around models from other manufacturers such as the iPhone 12 having a Pro and a Pro Max version, this could be a wise choice.
